hi there, i keep getting a request to install new edition of avast, so i click on it and it starts to do it and then it comes back with server time/date has changed, please fix it . license key has been temporarily disabled.
the time and date is fine, my partner had the same message for awhile and then it went away. how do i get this problem to go away .
This is a recent issue… I assume this is related to an incorrectly downloaded file jollyroger.vpu that contains blacklisted licenses, making your license invalid.
You don’t have to reinstall, just try update to update if the file will be downloaded correctly.
Or download the file here: http://download1.avast.com/iavs4x/jollyroger.vpu
And copy to avast4\setup folder. Then try update again.
I cannot copy or paste anything into that file. whenever i try to update it falls over with same reason. should i just delete the avast and start again?
I have this same problem and tried the steps above with no luck. there was no report back on uninstalling avast and then reinstalling. Should I do this?
The home version…it’s already installed, though. It has been working fine for a couple of years or so. I think the date setting on my computer got accidentally changed and that’s what caused the license key to be temporarily disabled. The date is fixed now, but it still won’t let me get the updates.
My license key was not expired (just temporarily disabled) but I did go to the link you gave me and selected the option for having lost my license key. I got an email with the license key, and I was able to insert it and my avast is up and running again. Thanks so much!
