License management.

Hello,

I have one question about licenses management for Avast Pro.

How are they managed?
For example I bought 50 licenses: if I install Avast Pro with the license key and then I uninstall it and reinstall it on the same PC, how many licenses will be used ? 1 or 2?

Do you have any web page where i can find how many licenses are already used for my key ?

Thanks.

Hi tmartincpp!

I would say that in the case that you reinstall avast! on one computer only one license is used.

And I’m afraid that there is no posibility of checking how many licenses are used already…

(please anyone correct me if i’m wrong…)

Aren’t you using ADNM?
The number of licenses are controlled internally by ADNM afaik.

Thanks for your quick response!

If anyone can confirm this would be great.

Unfortunately, I’am not using ADNM :frowning:

I think the same.

Ok, thank you.

My last interrogation concerns licenses in case of uninstall and reinstall on the same computer.
I don’t want to burn all my licenses:

How licenses activation works?
It’s based on server side, client side or both of them? I do not see anything about this in the FAQ.

There’s no server side activation, so you don’t lose any licenses when you reinstall the computer.

Ok, so only the licenses used simultaneously are counted?

I’d say if you bought 50 licenses for avast! pro you can use avast! pro on 50 different computers simultaneous.

Ok, thanks again !

is there a particular reason why you have 50+ licenses and dont use a central place for administrating the AV (with ADNM)?

sicne this way your doing now is making your job a lot harder

We do not have any Windows server and I did not know ALWM before posting this topic.

maybe u can run the ADNM on a dedicated (virtualised) XP machine with the MSDE or SQL express 2005/8 since the load is not too much?

or maybe you can test a setup using wine (assuming here that you use linux)? (hmmm sounds like a nice little project i wanna test out  on a virtual ubuntu box, but wont be anytime soon unfortuanately)

Maybe we will use ADNM for the next update of Avast’s configuration.
If i try ADNM and wine i will post my results here.

Thanks for the idea!
