I have used avast for about a year now so today I got a small windowpopup that my license was about to expire and that I should get a new one.
So I went to the site and registered again.
I got a new key in my mail so far so good.,
But after I entered that new key I always see my old one.
Isn’t it so that I should see the new one?
My virusupdates expire on 1 july 2007 it says now, license expires :never.
I think that’s strange,and I don’t know whether this is ok,or that I am protected now or not ?
Why not show the new key?
Am I doing something wrong?
thx.
( hope my english is allright,I’m dutch ;))
What do you mean, shows same key? It says that the license expiration date is now July 2007, so that’s correct, isn’t it?
Maybe I don’t understand the question… :-\
Thanks
Vlk
First my license number was w4091111-4444889 for example.
I re-registered,and got a new key for an new year.
Let’s say for example w04 0443333-55555435
In my mail :
Insert the license key into avast!4 this way:
5) Right-click the blue icon representing the resident protection in the
system tray and choose “About avast!”, or in the simple interface choose
‘Help’ → ‘About avast!..’.
6) Press the “License key” button in the lower right corner.
7) Enter the license key into presented text dialog.
We recommend that you copy & paste to enter it exactly as above into avast!
- mark (highlight) registration key in this e-mail, insert it into the
clipboard (by pressing CTRL+C keys together) and insert (paste) the license
key from the clipboard into the text dialog (by pressing CTRL+V keys
together).
- Press OK.
If you are unsure, the procedure of inserting the key into the program is
shown in our video - http://www.avast.com/files/tutorials/insert_key.htm.
so I did all that.
I assumed that I should see my new key…but after I re-entered my new key it says
Registration complete and successfull…but that’s it?
Where is my new w04 0443333-55555435??
So that’s why I’m not sure I’m protected now.
I rebooted the pc ,no change.
Maybe are you getting a message invalid license?
Nope…it says that adaptation is succesfull and that’s it.
But in the field (where the key should be)nothing changes… ??? ???
If you used the same email address as the last time (when you were registering for the first time), then the new license key will look almost the same as the old key. The only difference is the 4 numbers on the 11th-14th position. Like
W00000000HxxxxA1106-
(the x’s above).
Anyway, what’s important is the expiry date. If it says June 2007, there’s no need to worry…
Cheers
Vlk
Hm…it ends with 1106 indeed…it’s very much the same except for some new numbers in the back ;D
I don’t understand one single bit of it haha.
But as you say…the expiry date is halfway next year…so I guess everything is allright one way or the other.
If not,I bet that Avast will mention it one of these days
thank you so much!
I have using Avast for a long time, I know over a year and I have never been asked to register again. I have always wondered about that.
The key is free for 14 months.
Just register again, get a new key and use it
https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG
See the tutorial: http://www.avast.com/files/tutorials/insert_key.htm
Please take a look here: http://www.avast.com/eng/i_was_successfully_r.html
There is a 28 character “LICENSE KEY” that has to be obtained every 14 months from Avast to renew the 19 character “REGISTRY KEY” and each is different from the other of course.
The “License Key” is NOT DISPLAYED by the Avast program and is used only for the purpose to renew the “Registration Key”. The “Registration Key” is all that will be displayed by the Avast program.
The NEW “Updates Expiration” DATE under the “Registration Key” information (where you see the “Registration Key”) will show the new date that should be 14 months from the current date the “License Key” was entered.
Hello i had to do a format C now i did lose my code from avast antivirus what can i do ???
Go here: http://avast.com/eng/home-registration.php and click “I’m a registered user, but I lost my registration key”
That is of course, AFTER you install Avast again.
