Hello all. I’m completely new with AVAST, been a norton, and Kaspersky fan for many years. Won’t go into that, but I do have an issue when it comes to licenses. I have AVAST Internet Security with 3 device license. Even tho it shows on Avast’s site as protected for the 2nd device, when I use it on my Chromebook (2nd device) Lenovo N22-20 with Android 7.1, even tho one time I got to reflect it was licensed, it never sticks. Always reverts back to 14 day trial. This is frustrating when I keep trying to connect chromebook’s Avast software with Avast’s website hoping it will see the license. And I can’t just download the license and install it because it won’t last either. Avast Internet Security keeps wanting to use Google Play for its License check, and this is where the prob comes in I believe. Is there some kind of work-around for this? Sure would like to see it stick as registered and pro. Thanks to anyone who can help with this, its appreciated…
Avast Internet Security is for Windows operating system. Your ChromeBook uses Chrome OS, which cannot run Avast Internet Security. Your AIS license for 3 devices is not valid for the Avast app on Android.
Thank you for your reply. I would like to note tho, the latest on Chromebooks is that some of them right now, are using Android as completely merged. There’s no emulation and fully compatible with android OS. Mine uses android 7.1. There was no patching involved. Whether this makes any difference to you, I’m not sure, but just wanted to mention this as its the latest info that still needs to get spread to others. It never used to be this way in regard to Android and ChromeOS. However, the program does indeed work on my chromebook, and works fine as well, its only that the program looks to google play for licensing is all, nothing else is hindering the processes of software. Thanks
P.S. As a side note, if what you’re saying is Windows only and not even Android is covered under devices, then I understand mostly. But I would wonder why a 3 device subscription can’t include Android? This to me would be strange since so many other venders don’t have issues with Android for coverage and the subscriptions used.
If nothing else, there doesn’t have to be a Replica of a windows version of Avast on android, just allowing it to be considered PRO instead of free would enable all the options, and, would then be considered licensed as such. Does this make sense?
Avast Internet Security is only for Windows. Avast Mobile Security is for Android devices. Both devices will show up on the Avast Account https://my.avast.com. The licences for these 2 programs are not interchangeable, nor are they the same exact programs. Avast uses Google Play to distribute their Avast apps for Andriod devices.
Issues with Avast app and your Chromebook should be posted to https://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=37.0
Thank you for your help on this. Its appreciated.
