and the programs listed at top like Norton 2011 … and lower all programs are listed as 2015 versions

How much memory is used depends on the system, what is running, settings and other things.
That blog doesn’t tell a single useful thing at all.
How did they test it?
Did they install all av’s at the same time or on the same system each separate after a clean install of windows?
etc. etc.
avast does have “silent mode” so there will be no notifications if you are playing a game.
