Limewire help/virus location..

hello everybody,

I have to say that I am not a computer expert, and I accidentally downloaded a corrupt file on limewire.

When I open limwire now the icon in the bottom right corner -which tells how many files you have in your library- displays a " 0…" and then proceeds to increase to about 5 or 6 thousand. All the files that are being downloaded onto my limewire are the same zip file, but with different names.

I have tried deleting the original file I downloaded, deleting all of my files and re-downloading limewire, but nothing has worked… does anyone know what I could do to eliminate it? (or where the virus would be…? just a thought…) ??

If a virus is replicant (coming and coming again), you should:

  1. Disable System Restore on Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];310405
  2. Clean your temporary files.
  3. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.
  4. Use a-squared or ewido (trojan removers).

 Hi Greengiftie :

You are asking for trouble & you finally got it by using
Limewire. This program contains at least 1 undesirable
"rootkit"; you can read about it at :
  www.castlecops.com/postlite153185-limewire.html.
I recommend you uninstall it, and if you want to do
"file-sharing", use the safer & "cleaner" Shareaza,
  available from www.shareaza.com .
If "Tech"s advise does not work, I recommend you ask
for help on the Support forums of your antiSPYWARE
   Provider .
