I have been using Avast! and LimeWire for years. I am very impressed with Avast!, especially since recently it detected 2 viruses in files that I downloaded using LimeWire.
I have 2 questions:

  1. I was reading an old post in this forum that suggested checking for the LimeWire setting in the IM configuration. I don’t see it there, but I do have it checked in my P2P Shield. Is it supposed to be in IM?
  2. I have my P2P Sensitivity set to normal. This results in having all the programs except uTorrent checked off. If I check uTorrent the Sensitivity changes to custom. Does this put more drain on my resources, and if I use LimeWire almost exclusively, would it help to uncheck everything except LimeWire? I’m using XP SP3 Home. Thanks. :slight_smile:

  1. Reading old posts could well mean the information is outdated but in this case it may just be inaccurate as I too though Limewire was only a P2P application, infact Limewire isn’t listed in the Instant Messaging provider settings, so I would say it is just an inaccurate post.

  2. Even if you do check this option there will be no additional overhead, unless you actually use uTorrent. If you don’t use uTorrent then there is no need to enable it.
