Even after downloading to the latest mobile app off the google play store I get the Too Old error.

Hi,
try going to the Anti-Theft and updating it. You can go there directly from the Mobile Security dashboard or by calling the avast! PIN.
Both components have to be updated to the current version before connecting to avast! account.
