list of questions

I finially got it to work.

But now with some questions:

  1. I pick the components at admin tab. But it keeps installing all the components. (I waited until updates is done then deploy)

  2. After uninstall Avast, all the sites are still blocked, such as hotmail and I can not run scripts.

thanks

  1. i have done the same, it works good for me
which components are you trying to remove?

  2. did you reboot the computer already?

  1. it is very strange. I use uninstall utility to uninstall avast completely. then only pick a few components, Script Shield is not one of them. After install, Script Shield is there .

  2. this is one of the thing I hate to do the most, but yes, I did reboot.

  3. another thing is, after uninstall client from the console, sites are still blocked, I need to use utility to unstall it. thanks

is Admin–>Settings–>Components the only place to pick the components? I tried on one of the pc again, I only selected a few components. But when I click on the pc from the console, all services are started. thanks

just to make it clear:
Did you use the uninstall utility to remove the client on the client computer or only on the server to remove the old version of BP?

if you only removed the console:
did you have the older client already deployed to the computer ?

i noticed your blocking behaviour when i uninstalled via the console one time too. I noticed that a service from avast was still there.

-look into the services.msc and check which avast service is still registered.
-open an elevated command prompt (assuming windows vista or windows 7 is used)

  • typ in: sc delete “exact service name here

the console is left untouched.

I use utility to uninstall the client. It does not make sense that I have to check each services on each pc. I am using XP. thanks

any ideas? thanks

ofcourse it doesnt make sense to check every client for the services, hence the name BUG

can you check your event viewer for errors

  1. Yes, I also done with the same
[SOLVED]>> Create group >> Edit the group >> Shields >> and uncheck the Monitor.

  2. After uninstall you must restart the PC

Event viewer does not show any errors…

I know I can go in to each pc to disable service, this is the last thing I want to do, that’s why it has an admin console… HELP!!

okay, found something interesting. When I double clicks on one of the pc in NETWORK, it shows all services have STARTED.

But if I login to that pc, under real time shields, it only shows the components I selected.

which one is correct? thanks

also, on this pc, real time shield, it does not show script shield, but when I try to run a vbscript, it is blocked. thanks

Please tell me the version of one of the avast! clients where you observe your issue. Thx. Jan.

I am using 1.1.131.7

Well, I meant the version of the client (computer being protected by avast!). And the other question, which deployment method are you using? E-mail or Unattended deployment? Thx. Jan.
