So we installed Avast mobile security and tried a bunch of the commands, including locate. Everything worked fine while we were at the house. My daughter takes a trip 1000 miles from home. We try the locate command and get the response that the command was successfully issued, but we get no results.
We have been texting her all along, phone service is good. I have read others here have the same problem, but I have yet to read about a solution. Any ideas on why this is not working? It is a CDMA phone (US Cellular).
I am in Wisconsin, she is in Washington DC. We have a national plan, and the coverage map shows strong 3g coverage. We haven’t tried other commands as I dont want to disrupt her service. I did sent a message command and will post back if I get a reply.
As far as I understood your daughter has antitheft installed on her device and you sent the locate command with PIN to her device; are you sure, that she did not set the antitheft off?
RESOLVED: My daughters phone had mobile data turned off. When running on wireless everything worked fine. Away from home, not. Enabled mobile data, all good. Thanks for the help.
if she had the GPS turned off and enabling it didn’t work, I think she would need a working data connection (being it mobile data or Wi-Fi) for the Anti-Theft to correctly detect the position.
