My VPN is set to Toronto but I am in Mexico. Why do all my online searches come back in Spanish if my location is hidden by the VPN?
Why are the Avast Forum letter verifications so impossible to read!!!
Hello Oliver,
even if your real location is hidden by VPN, your browser provides some informations about you, for example the preferred language. The websites you visit try to identify your location mostly using your public IP address, which is an IP address of the VPN gateway or other Avast’s server on the route. However, for the services like Google this isn’t the only data source they rely on in an effort to locate you. It is described more in https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/SecureLine-VPN-FAQ in a section Why do certain websites claim that I'm connected to a different city than the city I selected as my VPN location?
.
Best Regards,
Martin
Thanks, but that is the problem too many searches come back in Spanish, not English.
Is there another way to hide your location?
