Locked out of ADNM

I have just bought and installed (re-installed) ADNM on my SBS 2003 server, but cannot log into the ADNM Console. It refuses login.

If I look in the ADNM error log it reports “Error 0000A410 has occurred while loading the global data storage

The info log reports “Installer information: Cannot create database, error 0x0000A410…”, presumably from when I installed it. I am using MSDE, by the way.

I looked at the Windows Services and MSSQL$AVAST is running, but the Avast Management Service is not running and will not start (windows error 42000).

I have already un-installed and re-installed it, but to no avail.

I should say that I did have all this running fine for the last month and a half - I installed the trial version back in November.

Please use the AMS Maintenace Tool, DB connection → Test Connection button. Does it report any problems?

If not, try doing “Create DB”. If that fails, please try the fix described here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=21956.msg182770#msg182770 (delete avast*.mdf and avast*.ldf files).

Thanks
Vlk

Great - thanks - all running perfectly now.

The fix worked, and I did need to delete the .mdf and .ldf files, then start the Avast Management Server service.

I don’t know why it went wrong in the first place - the AMS Management Tool / Check DB reported an incompatible database, and I notice we have gone from V 4.6 of Avast to 4.7, so was there some change to the database format?

Anyway, all is well now, so thanks.

Pete

It’s because you probably reinstalled MS SQL, but the database files (mdf/ldf) were not removed.

BTW - why did you reinstall ADNM in the first place? I mean, you could’ve just entered the license file and all would continue to work…

Thanks
