In the log directory there are 60,001 objects. I can’t delete these files. It is consuming my hard disk space. Help!

I think I am on the right path here… :-\

Have you removed the limit on the log files?
right click avast! tray icon → program settings → logging

There should be a value in the box, if there isn’t, as it says there will be no enforced limit.

This would help you keep it down in size, I think.

To temporarily disable the avast self defense module:

  1. Right click the ‘a’ blue icon on system tray.
  2. Programs settings > Troubleshooting (tab)
  3. Disable self defense module
  4. Delete the logs.
  5. Enable self defense module again.

also check the logging level you have set. slide it to notice(default) or warning.

Awesome. Thank you. I got my 234 Gig back by disabling the self defense and have set the log level to critical error. That has quieted things down. However, I wonder what it was so unhappy about. What does that error mean? Should I be worried?

I won’t worry, but you could repair your installation just in case…
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).

Also like DavidR said enable self defense again because self defense is for protect your pc that a virus wont disable avast! :wink:
