Logitech Quickcam Fusion: Web-Shield blocks web access

Dear all,

just to let you know, if anybody had a similar problem.

I bought a Logitech Quickcam Fusion today, and installed it as described. The Webcam worked very well, but there was no connectivity over port 80 to the outside (Firefox and IE always told me “connection error”). All other ports (SSH, Skype on higher ports, Email over IMAP) still worked. So I deinstalled the Quickcam drivers and I could re-access the web. Re-installed the drivers, lost connectivity :o

Turns out that the Web-Shield module in my Avast-Suite (Home v4.6) blocks the web-access when you have the Logitech Quickcam Fusion drivers installed. Turn off the Web-Shield and regain access to the web ;D

Now I’m not feeling very safe after disabling the Web-Shield, but there’s no other way of using my Webcam and accessing the WWW. Does anybody know why Avast blocks the Web-access because of the Logitech drivers? Seems pretty strange.

cheers,
Haberchue

I’m also facing the same problems with my USB bluetooth

Here is My machine configuration

  • Pentium 4 630 / 1GB RAM / 80GB HD / 1 Onboard Gigabit LAN
  • Windows XP Pro SP2 (All patches updated)
  • Avast Home (Most updated versions)
  • Microsoft Anti Spyware Beta 1 (Security Agent Enabled)
  • Spybot Search and Destroy
  • Spyware Blaster
  • VMWare Player.
  • Mozilla FireFox 1.5

Most of the time that I inserted the USB Bluetooth (And also sometime it occur regardless the bluetooth), all the web connection will be disabled. But The MSN messenger still working fine. The DNS server resolving is okay, but I can’t browse/ftp to any web sites. I have to unplug the USB, then wait for 2-5 minutes then everything goes well.
(If I STOP (Not pause) the Avast Web Shield, the connection will be okay immediately).

I suspect that the problem started when I install the USB Bluetooth Driver.

Anyway, There is no web-shield problem with my Laptop (Win XP Home, Build-in Bluetooth, and all anti-spyware applications are the same)

Sorry for my english…
;D

Avast is the best Antivirus ever.
