My boot takes about 3 minutes, which is very frustrating. So I installed a program called Soluto, which measures how long it takes for each program to load in the boot process. It turns out that Avast antivirus (i have the free version 4.8) takes 23 seconds to load! Now, 23 seconds might not seem like much, but:
remember that this happens every time i turn on my PC, which is everyday, somtimes more. Everybody knows how frustrating is a lengthy boot…
An average process/application takes about 3 seconds to load in boot. so this is about 8 times longer than average. I don’t know about other antivirus programs… but the only process that currently takes longer in the boot is Windows’ System itself (25 seconds) !
My questions are: is it normal? what can i do to make it shorter?
Thank you very much to pointing the “Soluto” program (http://soluto.com/Home/Thank-You).
Seems a very promising software. But I need to test it more to say.
You can test checking the Troubleshooting option of delaying avast services.
Security apps in general delay windows startup more than other startup programs. Some will cause more delay than others. In my own testing Avast 4.8 home and Avast 5 free slow boot times less or about the same than other security apps.
