From a previous thread …
Starting now to look at this problem.
Main rig is home built Biostar w AMD Sempron 2800, RAID on SATA, 2 gigs RAM, 2 nVida cards displaying on 4 monitors. 6 meg DSL, this box goes to a wired Router, Access Point for other parts of home network. O/S is Win XP Pro sp3 with updates current to 16Apr10. Software firewall is Zone Alarm
Problem started last week with increasing boot times. Version at that time was update to 5.0.507.
Read of new beta version, 533. d/l that and aswClean.
Removed 507, rebooted into Safe Mode, did aswClean, rebooted, (1 min, 52 sec to System Idle). Rebooted - verified boot time and installed 533.
Rebooted - back up to 7 min, 50 sec to System Idle. Removed 533, did aswClean and rebooted - screens at 1 min 50 sec.
Now I read the version 542 is available for testing. Also read in different thread that program could be searching for IP address during start.
Last night, daughter tells me that he 'puter is taking a long time to start. Haven’t looked at it yet, but I am fairly sure that 5.0.507 is on that box. (Also has AMD chip. Two other Intel boxes are fine.)
Any other things to do B/4 I try 542; change to static IP?
Thanks in advance for assistance.
