Hi,
I have several (about 90) Windows 7 64 bit machines that have Avast Endpoint Protection Suite version 8.0.1606 installed. These machines are connected to a domain and the users use roaming profiles. For some reason, the roaming profiles have long login and log off times when Avast is installed. As soon as I uninstall Avast, the issue goes away. Getting rid of Avast is not an option as we use it on all of our Windows 7 32 bit machines, and they don’t have any issues.
System Specs:
HP Zbook 15u G2
i7 2.4GZ quadcore cpu
16GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise
Without Avast Installed
Login = 47sec Logoff = 1min 21 sec
With Avast Installed
Login = 2 min 30 sec Logoff = 6 min 30 sec or higher
I have tried performing a clean boot, disabling all Avast system shields, turning on “load avast services only after loading other system services”, disabling “enable avast self defense module”, uninstalling all other 3rd party programs, and uninstalling all Windows updates other than service pack 1; and I still have the issue. I have also tried a clean installation of Windows 7 64 bit without any other programs installed, with no luck.
Local user accounts, such as the administrator account, work fine without a delay. Mandatory profiles only experience an issue during login. (But I would expect this as mandatory profiles don’t sync anything during log off because they are mandatory profiles).
Any help would be appreciated. I’ve hit a dead end.
[b]UPDATE[b]
The avast issue actually does happen on the Windows 32 bit versions and it happens on different models of laptops. But to clarify, removing avast on either one of them, significantly reduces the login/logoff times. The biggest difference is with the log off time, but there is a delay with the login time as well.
