If he things Heuristics are important for a good AV-Product, then he is right. But if you take a look at Antivir with its new heuristic, you will see that it causes more or less false alarms.
In my opinion you need a good unpackengine, before a heuristic is really useful. And both Avast and Antivir do not have one (by now).
Currently avast! holds its step with the big boys because of a fast Alwil team response time for new definitions. Heuristic detection is not something that you can make over night, but you need extensive knowledge of previous and current viruses and their structure to prevent false positives.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Although Avast may not have the “best” heuristic engine right now, it does do the job.
The main thing that must be remembered is that if the main “av scan engine” does what it is intended to do, then the viri get stopped anyway.
Avast surely does this hands down!
Techie
and your correct…The Avast Team is fast!
I just added my 2 euros
avast! is one of the best anti viruses out there. It may not be the so called “best” but it does keep getting better and better. I’ve been very pleased with avast! So pleased with it I went and paid for avast! Pro.
Hey the guy does not know what he is talking about. just his signature angers me
