Well Scott corrected my thinking, e.g. if gmail only offered IMAP as its email protocol then using SMTP wouldn’t work. So if it accepts SMTP your email account connection settings should be set up that way.
However, you have to uncheck the SSL connection settings for it in thunderbird and let avast take care of the secure connection. So I don’t know if your problem is SSL related.
YESSSSSSssss yesssss yessssssssssss
That’s part of the problem.
In first execution in other system I don’t take a screenshot, but I think to receive a only-message about SLL or something like that.
IN goldmine client I use a special gmail account configured with the help of Stunnel.
I don’t use goldmine client to download emails, only to send.
Perhaps is a matter of configuration.
Please, can you put a step by step modifications to take place ?
Ok, well email clients can’t use SSL with Avast, since it would block Avast from scanning the messages.
From what I’ve read, you have to setup your email client as a normal POP account, without SSL. Avast will secure the connection for you.
The Avast4.ini file where you could change the maximum amount of connections was usually located here: “C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini”.
I don’t have a clue where it is in version 5 or 6 though, I don’t have that on my systems here. Maybe someone else can chime in.
I have revised the email shield and was with the incoming messages activated and outgoing messages deactivated.
Now I have deactivated the email shield completely.
