My wife’s netbook had just recently had Avast Internet Security installed. Not long after, the system was infected with that Win 7 trojan-BNK.Win32.Keylogger.gen virus.
Attempted to solve it with the “bleepingcomputer.org” fix and it did not work.
I finally resorted to a System restore, but had to go to a point before the Avast software was installed. I have not yet received the Avast disc in the mail, although plenty of time has passed for it to show up.
So now I have two questions…
-
With this being such a widespread issue, how did my Avast software not catch it and stop it?
-
How do I now get Avast re-installed on this system without needing to pay for it again since it was so recently installed?
Thank you, in advance, for taking care of this frustrating issue!!

It is the license key you pay for......not the download of the program....you still have the mail with the license key ?
you can download again, every day if you want http://www.avast.com/en-eu/free-antivirus-download
but before i did, i would have essexboy check it for malware first
follow this guide and attach all logs…not copy and paste

You can apply your license file again.
If something fails, I suggest a clean installation of avast again (sometimes, System Restore messes the avast installation).
