lost avast home database icon

??? I was doing an installation of Adobe CS4. It was giving me a bit a problem so I turned off firewall and Avast. When I rebooted, it looks like avast started again, but it does not have the database icon in the tray. Also, I did not get the verbal “all databases have been updated”. I opened avast and updated virus protection manually and program updates. I don’t see any where that I can turn this back on. I already have both anti virus and program updates checked for automatic.

Any suggestions? How can I be sure it is actually working in real time?
I’m running Vista 64-bit.

As no one answered my post, I uninstalled and re-installed avast. Everything is working fine now. g

Sory we are normally much quicker than that, welcome to the forums.

This is the usual option we try before a reinstall.
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
