I am using APS on Windows 10. I have been an user for more than 10 years. After an upgrade two days ago, I found that the entry of the Avast Data Shredder in the Recycle Bin context menu.
I have ensured that the option to have it is still ticked in the Settings for the Shredder in the Privacy tab. All I could reach was the worthless AI “Help” (what a joke - after I explained all the things I had done before I sought help, it asked me to do exactly the same things!). After wasting a lot of time, it suggested that I reinstall Avast. I used Avast Clear to remove my installation and reinstalled. But, I still do not see the Shredder entry in the Recycle Bin context menu.
If anyone has been able to get the entry back in the current version of APS, please let me know what you did.
My brain cells are a bit scrambled now but i belive years ago i also had that connected to the recycle bin. thing is now if i right click on the bin i have shredder linked to wisecare 365 cleaner so im not sure if it would still be there if i did not have wisecare.
Its still in the UI under privacy then data shredder but i can understand having it linked to the bin would be much quicker.
hopefully someone will be along to advise further.
Thanks. I will wait till they do an update - I hate dealing with beta versions.
I hope this was an oversight. Kind of ridiculous otherwise. Avast, unlike, say WinRaR, does not provide a context menu items in File Explorer. It would be really nice to right click on a file and shred it.
