Lots of problems, not sure what to do

I’m using Avast 4.6.691 or Avast 6 Home Edition currently and am also using the latest version of Spyware S&D and Adaware 1.06. Also hijackthis and etc. etc.

I just recently upgraded to Adaware 1.06 and did a full system scan with it and half way through the scan Avast started detecting everything as if Adaware was detecting files and as Adaware started bringing them up Avast noticed the malicious coding, not quite sure.

Anyways, it found quite a few things that I put into the virus chest, and then I just did the same scan again with Adaware and Avast detected the same things but now in different areas. All I can think is I must be dealing with something that activates itself on startup.

The things it keeps detecting are: JS:Classloader-7, Win32:Mhtplo-26, JS:Exploit-Bytverify-11, Win32:Trojano-477

I haven’t really been able to find information dealing with these specifically and also with the same scenario as I’m going through with them duplicating themselves the next day in other areas.

I ran a Hijackthis scan using the latest version and then used the analyzer of my log and it said everything was SAFE. However, I decided to post my log here anyways.

Just as a note, I have quit using Internet Explorer yesterday and am now using Firefox. I’m not sure if what avast is detecting is due to IE or not.

Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Your system is way outdated.
1)Visit http://update.micorosft.com and keep going there till ALL security patches/updates are installed.

  1. If you have MS Office installed, visit that website again and click on the office updates. Again Install ALL security patches/updates

  2. Reboot

  3. Visit http://mrspock.dsmirc.co.uk and follow ALL instructions in the malware removal section

This should solve the problem.

Hey Eddy, thanks for replying it’s much appreciated.

About the system. I download a lot of things I am able to download, however, everytime I try to install SP1 and reboot the PC, when I log in it takes forever to load my desktop, and then it will only load a fifth of my startup programs, and any program I try to open fails to open. Actually, I should say any window I try to open won’t open, even My Computer.

So I boot up in safe mode and roll back the system prior to installing SP1 and everything works again. This has been a big problem and I haven’t been able to fix it.

I used to be able to install Service Packs; I even had SP2, but now I reformat and it continues doing that.

Any ideas why?

About Step 4 with following the malware removal section, will this still apply even though my system is outdated?

Thanks again.

My guess is you didn’t install the motherboard drivers.
Do it and then try to install SP2

When I reformatted I installed all drivers as I have on previous formats where service packs would still install.

Aside from that, I went to the link you gave me and some links past that and have been doing the things mentioned to try and clean the PC up.

I now am scanning my system and it doesn’t detect any of the things it did before.

So it’s a possibility they are gone or just hiding

Thanks for the help and the link as well. I learned a lot about all this from the site and some others.

If you have any more ideas on the service packs not working I’d appreciate the input.

Thanks for the help!

If you followed the instructions at point 4 in one of my previous posts, your system should be clean

SP not installing is mostly because of a driver issue.
Check for newer drivers for sound, graphics, printer etc.

Have you downloaded the network install for SP2 and tried that?
