hi all i just recently popped Avast on it seems great but how come it hasnt got the checkmark approval ? 1 or 2 yet?
Let me guess…
To be a member of Checkmark you need to pay… or you need to make an agreement… or something that Alwil team just decide don’t do…
I respect the other’s opinion.
But in security we can’t just stay with the other’s opinion… or you trust your security company, or you need to change it immediatly…
You won’t let your sons and daughters with a babysiter that you don’t trust, will you?
I trust in Alwil Company 8)
Thanks Tech for the fast response i still like it out of all i tried , another question??
do i need the url scanner on? i seen a slight slow down not alot to worry about but would the other shield cover it or u suggest having it on?..
Also I’ve heard about the Avast Screensaver i havnt seen that yet on installing it. Great this little gem is free too, regards skeet
More than a response, it was my opinion
I won’t disable it… it is a very good feature that scans your HTTP traffic and stop it if it is infected BEFORE anything is saved to the disk…
It’s one of the most important protection of avast nowadays.
You need to choose between performance and protection… disabling WebShield is not a good idea… can you have a better ISP (I mean, faster connection)?
Why don’t you test it?
thanks
2 true just on Pdf i noticed a slow down i have Adsl…256kb/sec
the screensaver where is that in settings?? cant see it thanx
oh and the sheild is standard to i keep it at that resident shield
Start Menu > Control Panel > Monitor (or video) icon
On the Screen Saver tab of settings, choose avast screensaver.
Then click Customize, choose the screensaver of your taste and configure the scanning…
Can’t follow you… can you rephrase?
oh and the sheild is standard to i keep it at that resident shield
ok when i go into settings
start avast antivirus then menue sensitivity of resident scanner
is at standard
just installed on a friends overseas via remote found a virus in her memory kewl good job avast
Standard or Normal… this is the default (and the better) level.
Let it there. If you check ‘High’ you’ll see a drop in your resources (besides the higher protection level).
You’ll feel confortable at Normal level of Standard Shield.

So I think you can trust avast! we love it too, welcome to the forums and the avast family ;D
sorry my apology’s :-X
No need to apologise it still doesn’t have the checkmark approval, that is why we explained why, but it does have other approvals, most importantly user approval ;D
