LVPrcMon.sys and blue screen of death

I have an Acer Aspire 5630 laptop with XP SP3. I was prompted by Avast to update to Avast free 6 and when it restarted I got the blue screen of death and endless restarting.

The error message read:

LVPrcMon.sys
*** STOP: 0x000000D4 (0XF7883760, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X80537430)
Then it did a physical memory dump

I googled ‘LVPrcMon.sys’ and it seemed to be a logitech driver issue. I checked the driver on acer website and its up to date. The other option was malwere but I couldnt find any.

Any ideas?

There is an older forum discussion that touches on this but I think its long forgotten!

  1. Check the logitech website for newer drivers. If there are any, install them
  2. Try a repair of avast.
