Mac OS X Malware on Windows?

If I download some malware that can only infect the Mac OS X (ie. .dmg file).

Will the free version of avast! detect it (ie. Avast Home Edition)?

Also can avast! scan .dmg files on a Windows-based computer?

No, avast! cannot unpack .dmg files (so, the detection depends on what exactly is detected - if the whole .dmg file, or something inside).

If I remember correctly, 7Zip can unpack dmg files.
If it does, unpack the dmg, then scan the files could work.
