Well there have been viruses before that could infect the Mac, the fact that they were very few of them many say is more down to the market share of the Mac and also Unix/Linux (though that is meant to be inherently less vulnerable). But as popularity and market share increase then it would be worth the while of the black hats to devote some time to target it.
