magic jack

i’ve had the magic jack for a little over a month, and not surprisingly, i’ve been having problems (signal breaking up) right after the 30 day trial period ended.

i’m sure it has to do with the magic jack, but is there anything i can do with the settings on my avast home edition to make the magic jack work better?

is it possible the avast is causing the line to break up…it seems like since i changed my anti virus from avg free to avast free, i’ve had some problems.

i have a hp dual core, 3gb ram, running vista home premium.

Are you using a router in your home network?

yes, i’m hooked up to a wireless network.

the signal strength isn’t all that great because i’m in a small unit that’s seperate from the house in the back, but i don’t think that’s the problem because i didn’t have this problem for majority of the time that i had the majic jack device…when i tested it right next to the router with the signal strength at 100%, i still had the line breaking up.

it’s amazingly coincidental that immediately after the 30 day trial period, i started having problems with the majic jack.

i had occasional dropped calls and intermittent poor audio with the majic jack, but it wasn’t until recently that it’s gotten so bad, it’s very difficult to even understand each other on the phone.

is it possible to allow avast to not monitor the majic jack application?
