MagicScore 6 - contains a virus?

Avast believes it’s found Win32:Induc in the main executable file for this program.

It’s been installed for a few weeks on my PC now, and the alert only came up the other day. I’m evaluating it on someone else’s behalf, who is considering buying a copy.

Is this likely to be a false positive, or is it possible that the publisher has unwittingly or otherwise embedded something nasty in the program.

The software’s publisher is at http://www.dgalaxy.net and MagicScore can be downloaded from http://www.musicaleditor.com/

Avast can’t clean the file, but obviously deleting it or moving it to the virus chest will render the program inoperable.

Advice?

Hi Willum,

This is most likely a genuine infection, as the newly discovered Induc virus has been found in many programs,

See:avast! blog >> Win32:Induc, new concept of file infector?

The best thing to do would be to allow the removal, and wait until the developer has fixed the infection…
