Mail Alert

I have Avast installed all throughout my network, approx 60 PC’s but I cant seem to push the mail alerts settings out to the workstations from the Administrator Console.

I have set up the alerts and put them in to the Client Side Tasks → Defaults Resident Protection – > Alerts → Used Alerts (SMTP). But no workstations are picking it up …!! Any help appreciated. ???

Where am I doing wrong

So, the alerts are not getting sent, or they don’t even show up in the Enhanced UI on the clients…?

They are showing up in the Enhanced UI but dont seem to be sending. When I try testing it I get a warning box saying “No such host is known” - “The alert can not be sent”. I am trying to send using SMTP and in the net alert address I have typed an email address, with the company ‘avast@domainname.co.uk’. Whilst doing the same on the Server console it runs fine, and sends an email …?? ???

Thanks Chris

OK, this probably means that the SMTP server details are not set correctly.

In ADNM, open a Computer Catalog group’s settings, and go to the SMTP page. Are the settings set corretly there?

If not, you need to fill them in.

Thanks

Thank very much, although they were set and the right details, I seem to have put a blank in before the start of the IP address …!! :-[ Changed that and pushed it out to all the clients and hey presto it works.

Thanks very much

Oh, something like this has probably happened to all of us.

I wonder if we could modify the console so that it will trim any respective leading and trailing whitespaces…? Would probably make sense…

Might help dorks like me :-[ Never mind at least it is fixed and now been round a few PC’s with EICAR and all start sending emails.

Thanks once again. ;D

aha… this may be a bug guys… because I have encountered the same problem… what is the chances of many people inserting a blank space preceding the SMTP server address…??

Maybe something to test - think about!

Thanks,

Paul
