Mail-Protection and socks5

Hi

I am using avast! IS 8 and my subscription runs until 2014.

My question is as follows:

Many universities and companies only provide connections over socks5. avast! IS 8 supports only POP,IMAP4 and SMTP. Is it possible to expand the Mail-Protection to other protocols like socks5 or ports?
As I know other AVs (Kasp…) supports scanning over random ports.

in case you dont get this to work, you may already have protection as many have virus scanners on the mail server
