In Windows XP there is no mail protection wizard anymore.
Your e-mail programms are covered automatically!

Avast now handles mail protection tranparantly on NT based systems (XP/NT/2K/2K3), no more need for the MPW
The version 4.5 has a new mail detection that will work automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages. Can you make a try and see if it’s ok? Thanks.
New email detection is automatic and do not require user interaction. Anyway, spam killer applications need manually change email account settings

How do you do this? I have four eMail-Accounts using Thunderbird 1.0 behind Spam-Pal (127.0.0.1 - localhost):
[Thunderbird ↔ SpamPal ↔ Provider]
Thunderbird-Settings:
-
POP3: localhost: 1110 (SpamPal)
-
IMAP: localhost: 1143 (SpamPal)
-
IMAP: imap.myaccount.de: 993 (SSL No SpamPal)
-
POP3: pop.provider.de: 110 (No SpamPal)
-
and 2. seems to work. 3. and 4 No scanning eMail. Setup with Standard (Win XP SP1).
What is setup in avast! - in the .ini ?
Thanks

Which is your configuration? Firewall, OS, etc.
For me, works like a charm!
