Mail Protection Wizard

When going through the set up wizard, should Netscape 7.2 and Thunderbird .9 show up in the selection box for accounts to be protected? I remember that they used to show up when I was using older versions of Netscape and Thunderbird.

A while back, I was having some pc problems and had to uninstall Avast and reinstall it again but the only e-mail program that shows up is Outlook Express.

I had to set up the mail scanner manually and was wondering if maybe some of my registry got destroyed or if it was just due to the newer versions of Netscape and Thunderbird that I am using.

What OS are you using?

Eddy, I am using 98se.

Cochise, with Windows 98SE, Thunderbird must be configurated manually. Change the setting of the email accounts into Thunderbird: Menu Tools > Account settings this way:

Pop3 (Inbound):

Server name: 127.0.0.1
User name: YourUserName#YourPopServerName
Port: 110

Smtp (Outbound):
Server name: 127.0.0.1
User name: YourUserName
(or, in some systems, user name is: YourUserName#YourSmtpServerName)
Port: 25

Note, probably you should run Mail Protection Wizard to have ashMaiSv.exe automatically running at Windows startup.

Do you use any spam killer?

No Spam blocker.

Everything works fine with manual setup. I was just curious why Netscape 7.2 and Thunderbird .9 do not show up when running the mail wizard. It must just have something to do with the newer versions of them. When I had Netscape 7.0, it used to show up when running the mail wizard.

Cochise, as far I know, Netscape and Thunderbird were never supported by Mail Protection Wizard…
