i’m running avast 4.5.549 on win xp home. in start-programs-avast, the mail protection wizzard has disappeared. however, the wizzard is till mentioned in the help-file. is there anything wrong/do i need to restore something?
Due to the new mail detection method theres no need for the wizzard anymore, except you are on W98 or ME - just configure your mail client as if avast is not here.
You may also use the search in the forum - there are a lot of threads handling this topic

The wizard is no longer required if you have WinXP, it is however, still required if you have Win98, WinME. So if you don’t require it you won’t see it but will have to be referred to in the help file for those using Win98, etc.
The version 4.5 has a new mail detection that will work automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages.
