In the event viewer I keep getting " Avast mail Scanner failed to start -access is denied error code 7000.
In the Avast log I get this. I’ve reinstalled and it continues to happen.
I just did a complete reinstall of the OS XP Home. I’m downloading now and will give it a try. Never had this issue before.
Thanks for helping! anyone else?
No Scott not to fear I did the OS reinstall on Monday thus Avast is the first install on the new format.
I also run Spyware Doctor, Threat fire, Firewall Plus all from PC Tools. The reinstall was to upgrade from Win2K to XP. I disc I used was the original replacement from Dell that I just received. Win XP Home SP3.
Everything used to co exist before on 2K.
I did all sorts of scans with no crap identified.
I also have a Toshiba and I noticed that the ashmaiserv.exe in the Dell has just a generic icon were on the Toshiba it’s sort of a mail icon.
So while DL Avast I sat here, plenty of time on dial up, as to what changed. I installed from the same files to both computers. I light bulb came on. I only use the Dell for email. Thunderbird updated yesterday to version 22. I uninstalled 22 and reinstalled 21. Voila mail scanner is back. This is unusual behavior for Thunderbird.
