Mail scanner freezes

Hello, I use Avast and spamihilator to scan my email.
On restarting my pc mail is checked ok, but when all mail is checked the Avast mail scanner icon on the task bar freezes on the first mail in the list. Therefore Spami can not continue. to remove the icon I have to restart, and then it happens all over again - very frustrating.
Any suggestions please.

Try a forums search for spamihilator as this has been covered many times, it may be that you haven’t set up both proxies to work in sequence. Sorry I don’t use spamihilator so I can’t be more helpful.

My problem is with Avast not Spamihilator. I have been able to correct the problem by disabling IMAP in Avast Resident Task - Settings. But now my IMAP mail is not scanned so not a real solution. Why does the Avast Scanner icon in the task bar freeze? Not the Avast symbol ‘A’, the symbol that indicates that the server is being interrogated is the one that freezes. The only way to remove the icon is to reboot.

You must configure Spamihilator to work with avast, otherewise it won’t work:
Internet > Spamilhilator > avast > Outlook Express.
