I realize this issue has already been discussed, but I am very tech-challenged and am hoping someone can help explain in simpler terms for me! I received the following pop up warning
Avast! has detected a secure connection from your mail program (process azureus.exe) to the imap server 68.232.74.134 (68.232.74.134).
This type of connection cannot be checked for viruses. Please disable SSL/TLS in your mail client so that the mail scanner csn scan your mail. The mail scanner will provide the SSL/TLS security itself.
I have no idea what this means or what, if anything, I need to do. I started using Avast! about a week ago and use Azureus to download. I have no understanding of the ins and outs of Azureus - use the trial and error process. Any guidance around steps to correct this issue would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
I haven’t used it much (Azureus)…and I don’t have it installed currently. This message from Avast related to IMAP and a p2p client is weird…something in it would be attempting to connect to a mail server… (I know there are plugins allowing to send a mail when a download starts, and supporting ssl, but that’s SMTP, nothing to do with your issue, and that’s an option)
more about the IP you gave here: http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois/?tool_id=66&token=&toolhandler_redirect=0&ip=68.232.74.134 Could be your ISP…but again, I can’t see how Azureus has anything to do with a mail server there…

Well by all accounts azureus has form for using common email ports for communication (lots of such topics in the forums relating to azureus)and that plays merry hell with scanners expecting the proper protocol over this ports. By all accounts the user can change the communication port.
I don’t know how to do that as I never use P2P applications much less azureus.
