For some unknown reason my Avast “Mail Shield” and “Web Shield” have been turned off and I am unable to turn them back on ?

Have you, by any chance, just updated to avast! 5.1 and haven’t restarted the machine yet?

No (Not unless it was an automatic update)

All other protection is running OK.

Will try updating to 5.1 and see if this fixes the problem.

After upgrading from 5.0.677 to 5.1.889 using GUI updater and restarting PC I have experience the same issue (random Web and Mail Shield Off) it would happen every 2-4 reboots, I went back to 5.0.677 which the glitch is gone. I’ve reported that to tech support so hopefully they will look in to it.
OS: Win 7 x64

Upgraded from version 5.0 to 5.1 and rebooted.

All shields now running OK.

So not sure what happened to cause problem.

I did do a system restore previously.
