When the Mail Shield Enabled box is ticked, the client is unable to make contact with my LAN server; when unticked, email works normally.
I am running Mac Mail clients on Lion, talking to a server running Snow Leopard. SSL is not being used at all - clients talk to the server via IMAP, using MD5 challenge/response.
Any help, please? When you say don’t use SSL on the server, does that imply don’t use MD5 either? What should I set at the server end?
Michael
Hi,
We don’t say “don’t use SSL”. With SSL the mail shield isn’t able to look into your mails because they’re encrypted but it won’t block them. Your setup should work. It seems more like there’s a bug somewhere. I’ll ask tumic to look into it as soon as possible.

That would be good, as I suppose Avast! for Mac ought to work in a pure Mac to Mac environment like mine ;D. I’m more than happy to help with any testing or further info you need to pin this down.
All the best
Michael
