The option to insert note into clean message breaks HTML formatting and sends as plain text.
Which is a bit annoying as I’d sent out an HTML mail about my exhibition! :o
And got mail back telling me they thought I had a virus!
never happened here, HTLM is preserved with an avast note at the bottom.
An important piece of information is missing, like your email client ?
I’m still using OE and if I insert a clean note it doesn’t mess with HTML emails (that is what I use all the time).
Outlook 2007 (XP sp3).
Here’s an example, sending google homepage from IE’s ‘send page’ via Outlook, then forwarding it to another email account of mine from Outlook (without note and with)
No problem here, using IE8 and OE.
Sent, received, set avast to insert clean notes, forwarded, received and no problems, see image.
Now I cropped the image but there is another clean note below of the outbound message for the inbound one.
Whilst I had no problem, I’m not using MS Outlook.
Yeah, I checked it on OE 6 and it’s working fine, just not in Outlook 2007.
Same process, forwarded html mail in OE to main account (IMAP) and looked fine in OE6. Same email viewed in Outlook 2007 was in plain text format, including all the code.
I have the same problem as Lister - Outlook 2007 (Windows 7). If i have add clean message checked then it produces plain text on receive and sending but with option turned off then all is okay.
that won’t help but I use Outlook 2010 beta off and on and there’s no such issue there either.
i reported this problem during beta test it seems to be just with outlook 2007 on my systems as windows live mail and outlook express it worked fine.
Well although they all use the Mail Shield, Outlook uses the avast plug-in component of the Mail Shield, so that clearly is where the difference is. What that might be is the question.
just to mention that when I said I had no issue with the mail scanner and Outlook 2010 beta, that’s on windows 64 bit, and the outlook plugin isn’t operational there, not compatible. So I just scan Outlook mails like with any other client.
So that may well be the reason your not seeing this effect if MS Outlook is being treated as if it were an other client.
yeah but I also guess that this protection that I still get on Outlook that way is more than enough…no?
DavidR just to note i had the problem with outlook 2007 both using xp pro and vista home prem 32bit
That is what we are effectively saying, that it looks like it is related to the avast plug-in within MS Outlook and obviously only on 32bit OS as the avast plug-in doesn’t work in Outlook on 64 bit OSes.
Just to add, that same behaviour exists in Outlook 2007 on Windows 7.
Does anyone know if they are working on a solution for this issue in Outlook 2007?
unfortunately not, waiting for some feedback here…
