Mail Shield Not Scanning Thunderbird IMAP SSL

Hi,
I realize that there is already a topic on the Thunderbird SSL issue, however, I don’t use POP, instead I have IMAP.

That being the case, I’ve set the default ports to 993, set the Connection Security to SSL/TLS, the Authentication Method is Normal Password. Same goes for SMTP.

In Avast, I clicked to enable SSL scanning and it’s set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.

And…when I open Thunderbird again, it’s stuck on “Connected to imap.googlemail.com…”. It’s not updating for incoming emails at all.

If I disable SSL scanning, Thunderbird updates fine but then Avast isn’t scanning the emails at all.

I’ve disabled my firewall and that hasn’t helped either.

Thoughts?

Thanks

EDIT: If I missed a post regarding this (other than the one that simply tells me to set the settings I had set above), if someone could link me to it, I’d much appreciate it.

I had the same issue. I deleted the certificates within Thunderbird for all my mail servers, including IMAP, closed Thunderbird and then restarted. All appears to be working well with SSL scanning enabled within Avast! Check out this article for how to delete the certificates.

And that did the job.

Thanks very much!
