Is there any reason I’m not seeing any results in the Mail Shield? On the statistics page I see results in the Full System Shield and the Web Shield but never anything in the Mail Shield. I have SSL and use Thunderbird as my client. I believe the emails are being scanned as I experimented with the Avast message on both incoming and outgoing emails. I’ve searched through all the Avast settings to see if there was something I’ve missed but with no luck. Could it have something to do with GMail? My actual server is from my Cable company via GMail, but I use Thunderbird to view, receive, and send all my emails. Maybe that is what is creating my problem? Any help would be appreciated.
I’ve had this posted for a few days, but not one post to answer me so I finally decided to try a different approach and do a little testing. Gonna post the results here hoping it will help others with the same questions that I had. I sent myself about 30 emails and then checked the Avast statistics from the interface. Low and behold the email scanner bar graph now shows about 1/8th of an inch on the bar graph. In other words, the more emails you get will let you see email activity. But it takes a heck of a lot to show up on the bar graph. My test results lets me know that the mail shield is indeed working as it should be. It’s a shame Avast doesn’t lower the parameters for the mail shield graph so even 10 to 20 emails a day will give a better indication. As it stands now I’ll probably never see even a 1/4 inch reading on the bar graph.
I posted a thread on this same problem about a week ago.

I also sent myself some e mails (like 5 or 6) but I have never seen the bar graph move. It always looks like it’s empty. May be a problem on the statistics page as Avast is inserting a message in all my e-mails stating they are virus free. Just wish the stats would show some form of activity. I submitted a support ticket on the issue too.
I think it will take over a hundred to make a good indication on the graph. Avast needs to lower the parameters so less than a hundred will show at least a little on the graph. I don’t think most people receive or send that many a day? But at least we know it is working. Guess we have to help each other out a little. Glad we got together on this.

In AvastUI, go to Statistics | Historical data and on the top pull-down, select Mail Shield. You should be able to see the number of messages scanned.
Wow, thank you for that information Gopher John! This is a great feature to know but I never knew it existed or even how to find it. It is exactly as you described and shows the mail count over every peak in the graph. Thanks so much for sharing!
You are welcome.
