I am delighted with the new Avast design style. My version is 17.2.2288.
I use OE6 as my workhorse email program - I have others , but OE works well with no hiccups.
My OE failed suddenly saying the server could not be found. Never happened before.
I got a clue from the web for similar failures and it suggested my AV was affecting it. Well it was.
I cut out the Mail Shield for 10 minutes, tried my OE and it worked perfectly. When I set the Mail Shield for permanently ON again, OE worked OK and has been OK ever since.
So Avast stopped my OE - why ?

Unfortunately it isn’t going to be easy to say one way or another if avast was responsible.
If there is any conflict, removing one element of that would resolve a conflict but it doesn’t prove it was at fault.
I would probably have restarted OE and or Avast Mail Shield or simply rebooted. If any of those resolved the problem, I would just have carried on without further investigation. Generally I don’t investigate any first instance of any problem until it becomes more consistent.

Not sure if I should start my own thread or not, but I recently updated both avast and outlook and now the mail shield is not working. the blacklist/whitelist buttons are gone and I can’t seem to get them back. Any help?
I rebooted my PC, but OE was still in error. My tickling the Avast mail shield did the trick and it has been OK since.
I raised thi post in case somebody had experienced this fault before or knew the answer.
Obviously it is indeterminate, so I will keep my suspicions on Avast if OE plays up again.
Thanks.
