I’ve had a repeated problem with version updates of Avast Internet Security where my config settings are automatically changed without notification.
Every time the program updates itself, it switches on “mail SSL scanning” and “Web HTTPS” options, which I had switched off manually.
I contacted support about this the previous time it happened, and they said they hadn’t heard of the problem before.
Their suggestion was to do a backup of my config and then reload from the backup.
But the problem still keeps occuring. I don’t want SSL and HTTPS scanning active.
And I don’t want my config settings changed automatically without notice either.
What OS/SP ?
What exact version of avast ?
Is there any other security (related) software installed ? (or was there)
Why don’t you want SSL transfered data to be scanned ?
Windows 8.1
Avast IS 11.2.2262
there is no other security software on the machine
I don’t want the Avast footer message to appear in my outgoing emails.
I want the browser to perform the SSL certificates checking with the original root CA’s
OK, I’ve updated to the most recent version of AIS 12 now.
Config was unaffected, so that’s good.
My previous remark was because I presumed that the config reset occurred around the same time the new version 12 was released, so I thought there may have been a connection between those 2 events.
Anyway, I’ll see how it goes and let you know if it happens again.
Thanks for the help.
