The AVAST icon shows in sys tray with an “X”, after awhile the “X” goes away. I click on the icon, Avast opens and show the current status window. In it the Mail and Web shields are not started. I have had to manually start these after each reboot of system. Is there a setting I can make to have these start on system start up? I could not find an answer in HELP!
This is normal. They are started when the mail and internet traffic start. Don’t worry.
If the boot is heavy (there are lots of programs and services starting), the “x” on the icon is normal. avast is loading.
I did a reboot again and watched closely… The Mail and Web shields did start after a min or so…
Interesting is that all report files show the very same time of start up –
avast! Real-time Shield Scan Report

And I know for a fact that Mail and Web did show on AVAST window as not started!
I believe that each report file should reflect the correct time of startup…
But, in doing so it would cause users to question why the reports have different startup times…
