I’ve got multiple email accounts and I’m using Thunderbird 10. Everything works fine for my GMX and Yahoo accounts. However, my Gmail account times out. I tried everything, but no luck. My only option is to turn SSL back on and don’t use the mail shield for my Gmail account.
Does avast! support Thunderbird?
Can someone look into this? Thanks in advance!
The mailshield should work with any mail client/mail server, including Thunderbird/gmail.
Please look into the system log (/var/log/system.log) and post here all related proxy log messages.
I have some more info. It happens only with IMAP and not with POP3 access. I did try it again with IMAP and watched the system.log in the console. No warnings were displayed. Thunderbird doesn’t display an error, the status bar just keeps running. Anyway, I switched to POP3 and I don’t have the problem anymore. Thanks for your reply!
I’ve tried it again with avast! 7.0b for Mac, but no luck! Gmail/IMAP doesn’t work with Thunderbird >:(. I get the continuous rolling status bar for ever. The weird thing is. I configured my mom’s new laptop (PC) and had the same problems with Thunderbird for Windows and avast! 7 :o. Switching to POP3 did solve it. Other accounts (GMX etc.) work perfectly with IMAP…
I’ve got the exact same problem with T’bird 10 and IMAP GMail. I’m using the latest release of Avast! This has been going on since mid-late last week, if that helps.
EDIT: Sorry, I’m using Windows XP. I’ll post this in the regular forum.
The issue is caused by the IMAP COMPRESS extension used by Thunderbird 10 with gmail. You can fix it by disabling this extension by setting the Thunderbird configuration key
