ok this is one of two big bugs, this one’s the biggest & it’s so bad it’s surprisin no one mention it before
basically Avast can’t tell the difference between reading & running a program
whenever “scan when executing” option is on in File Shield settings, an alert pops up even if the suspicious file is just read (without running). in other words even if I just right-click on a bad file I get an alert!
btw “scan on read” is off so the settings are so:

this is a MAJOR bug cause it hogs down the whole system: Avast scans EVERY exe file on access (instead of just scanning them on run) which slows the whole system especially when dealing with big exes
heck this bug makes it even slower than Kaspersky! :o (Kaspersky is slow for different reasons, but at least the file scan options work & it can tell the difference between read & run. so can Eset)
I mean this bug’s so obvious have they even noticed it? ???
I wanna be able to set the File Shield so that it only scans when running a file so save on HDD & system resources instead of having a scan (and possibly a popup) everytime I just read or write or access a file
till then the only way to avoid the reading bug is to disable scan-on-execute which “solves” the prob (but then Avast also lets me run bad files, which obvously aint good )
