Major issues with home edition

Hi.

I downloaded and installed the Avast Anti-virus package from MajorGeeks as I have had enough of handing over £35 a year to McAfee, but things are not going too smoothly.

In short, if I want to access my Yahoo mail (I have done the LAN setting in the FAQ’s) or go to chat forums like this where I have to log in, I have to turn off Avast if I want to get in, or else I will be filling the logging in page until kingdom come.

I have removed all traces of McAfee Anti-virus software from my system (to the best of my knowledge) but this seems to be a cookie issue, i.e. Avast will not accept them.

I run Zone Alarm Pro which I know has caused compatability problems in the past, but I need to have a firewall on so if one has to go, I’m afraid it’s going to have to be Avast - but I don’t want to do that.

Has anyone got any ideas how to cure these ills?

Many thanks in advance.

It seems to be all okay if I turn my Privacy Settings in ZA to ‘off’.

Can it be resolved if I want to turn those settings back on?

  • ZONE ALARM - AVAST Web Shield compatibility dialogue - Install/Update Question - YES or NO

If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro and Privacy Control in ZoneAlarm is set to High and if you should have clicked YES in avast compatibility dialogue box the transparent mode proxy in web shield will be turned off you have to manually configure browser to access internet. To manually configure your browser watch instructional video
