There is another workaround you can try. Instead of disabling “DeepScreen”, you can delay the start-up of Avast.

Here is how:

  1. Enable DeepScreen in Avast → Settings → Antivirus and check mark “Enabled DeepScreen”.

  2. In the Avast troubleshooting menu, check mark the “Load avast! services only after loading other system services”

Everything functions properly on my Windows XP SP3, if I delayed the Avast start-up, upon Windows boot-up. Even DeepScreen functions properly.
