Have the free version and latest update is asking to make changes to secure area of Avast but do not recall what that pw is. Is there a way to recover or change the system level pw in the free version?

If you mean the avast password you may need to do a clean install.
I tried that and even scrubbed the reg files but I think there is a spot on the drive one can not see and was hopping someone has seen this and found a work around to fix, but thanks for replying.
